Maya Angelou (Wisdom Wednesday 5/28)

We said goodbye to Maya Angelou today. She was an amazing woman with many words of wisdom. I remember hearing one of her poems read aloud by the library teacher when I was younger and I remember how much I loved her words. They were always so peaceful and beautiful. Today's words of wisdom come from her. Rest in peace Maya.

I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.

Memorial Day Weekend (Friday Funday 5/23)

Today is a different type of Friday Funday post. Memorial Day is Monday the 26th. Lots of folks plan for this weekend all year and I hope they still remember what this holiday is truly about. It is a day of remembrance for those who have died in active military service. It makes me sad to think about people partying it up on a day when we are supposed to be honoring our fallen heroes. So please, even if you are having a party or camping, take at least a moment to reflect on what the holiday is really about. My grandfather was in active military service and I am so very glad that he made it through and came home. Many families cannot say that though and it breaks my heart. So, THANK YOU to all the servicemen and their families for their sacrifice.

Become Like Water (Wisdom Wednesday 5/21)

Once in a lifetime an individual will come along that seems superhuman. Bruce Lee was an amazing human physically and mentally. If you have never watched one of his movies then you need to!

This week's wisdom is about adaptability. When faced with a new situation are you able to adapt? We can't grow unless we adapt.

Friday Funday! (5/9) Plant a Garden!

Right now is the perfect time (in most places) to start a garden! One thing that I still need to start are pumpkins so we can have our own home-grown for jack-o-lanterns come Halloween. I am a very new gardener so I am starting out easy this year. I weeded the planting bed in front of our rental house and threw a bunch of flower seeds down and covered them with a loose layer of soil last weekend since the weather was so nice. 


I planted Zinnia, Johnny Jump Up (Viola), and Cosmos. A friend of mine said the Cosmos will definitely come up but the others may take longer. As long as I get some color and flowers in front of the house I will be happy.

I'm not sure where the pumpkins will go. I will have to do some research to find the best place to plant them. Always do your planting where the conditions are right for that plant. Remember, some like shade, some like sun, etc. Work with your plants and don't force them to be where they do not want to be! I like the Farmers Almanac for information like that, plus planting guides. 

So I encourage all of you to get outside and plant something! Its fun!

Treat Yourself Tuesday (5/6)


Do you like samples? I do. Almost every other Tuesday, PinchMe releases new free samples. Its free shipping but limited quantities, so the samples go fast! I'm a Blonde!

As I suspected I really should have used a color remover first. I did not get as light a blonde as I wanted, but its almost there. I had help from my fiance, Ryan, in order to get an even coverage so I would recommend having an assistant in this process.

In a month I will do some fun color like pink, purple or blue, but for now I will enjoy having lighter hair!
